Decorated Ganesha Wall hanger-made from CD

Hello everyone..

Its good to be back after a long time.. Today I have posted a decorative wall hanger made with CD.

With the new age of teeny tiny storage devices, Cds have almost become a collector's item.. But its a wonderful base for several art and craft works because of its usual compactness and the wonderful reflective surface..

how many of us have age old CDs at home which is of no use to us and just gathers dust? Well, we can see infinite methods to reuse them in the internet.. This craft is one of a million ways to reuse an old CD..

Here is my wall hanger..

My wall hanger was made as a gift. I have pasted a precut golden colored plastic Ganesha in the center of a CD. The outlines are decorated with several colored beadstrings..

By placing a satin ribbon at the back of this CD, paste another CD facing outwards and stick stone patches and a beadwork at the bottom part finishes this beautiful home decor...

Hope you liked my craft. Thank you for visiting my blog

Have a nice day..

Decorated Princess Doll Picture

Hello everyone..

Today I have posted a doll picture dressed up with satin and flanel cloth.. And it is also decorated with glitters, stones, etc.,

This can be used as a wall hanging or in greeting card, etc., The pattern is traced onto a card..

For the inner frills, THreee flanel cloths are cut with measurements as follows in inches
  • 4*1.5
  • 3*1.5
  • 2*1.5
Now for each of the cloth, a runnning stitch is put on one end.. when pulled out it forms a fan like frill..

All three frills are stitched on one another and pasted on the doll picture..

Now for the outer layer of a gown. A satin cloth is cut in the same size and pased along the corners of the gown..

A small part of the flanel cloth is pasted on the top part of the gown.. In the bottom part, a shimmery net fabric is pasted..

Now the doll is decorated with stones and glitters..and colored with a marker pen..

When we border the picture with a glitter tape,The finished picture looks like this..

DIY Painted Pen Stand

"It is important to reuse our resources. If you don't recycle and reuse things, you may run out of them."-David Murdoch

Hello everyone..
Today I have reused a card box that comes with biscuits(to retain its freshness) as a painted pen stand..I have used acrylic paints and felt tip pens to paint on this box..

Things needed:
  1. An old box(of Biscuits,tea box,etc.,)

  2. Acrylic paints

  3. Painting brushes

  4. Black Felt tip pen
  5. Pencil(For drawing the patterns)

The top side of the box is cut off to make it as a holder and the a design is hand drawn with a pencil on the surface.. and criss cross patterns are drawn on the remaining sides of the boxes.. as shown below

Then the flower pot is colored with pink petals, light green leaves and pearl yellow spots..

And colour the basket with pearl metallic copper and pearl metallic rust..

Now draw the criss cross patterns on the surface of the box with a felt tip pen ..But carefully continue the lines around the box to get a clear pattern..

Now fill alternate check boxes with black color acrylic paint..

The finished look .. You can keep stationery, brushes, etc., in this holder..

Hope you all enjoyed this..See you soon with my next post..Have a nice day..

Fabric Painting - Doorway Decor

"Fill a house with Love and it becomes a home"- Famous Quote

Hello everyone..

In this post,I have displayed a fabric painting done as a home decor which I have painted some time back..  It is a doorway decor which looks very nice if hanged on the entrance of a pooja room.. But also looks good on any doorway...Check it out..

It has two flip sides of the same floral pattern painted on each side and also has a colorful border.. The paintings are done by color filling and outlining technique..

The patterns are traced and transferred on to the Poplin fabric... For illustrations of transferring a pattern, Please refer to my Fabric painting-Red Rose post..

Things needed:

A clean and ironed Poplin Fabric:
Poplin is a fabric woven with criss cross ribs of any fiber such as cotton, wool, silk, etc., which gives it a strong texture and it prevents any paint from oozing down through it. White poplin works well with most acrylic or fabric colors but any color fabric is fine. Buy Poplin cloth here

The poplin cloth is measured 32 inches in length and 15 inches as width. IT is folded along the center and a curved pattern is drawn and cut to get the shape of an arch..

Paints:
Many different colors of fabric/Acrylic paints.

Painting Brushes:
  1. A Flat Brush No:2 or 3(For color filling)
  2. A lettering Brush No:000 or 00(For outlining)

Short and Stiff bristles are preferable..

Painting Frame:A painting frame helps to tighten the fabric and holds it in the stretched form.

Fabric Glue(To stick stones)

Other Essentials:
  1. An old cloth for cleaning brushes in between changing colors
  2. An old piece of card or paper to place under the fabric
  3. Clean water
  4. A mixing tray(Optional in case we want to mix certain colours)

In this painting, I have used the following colors..

For Flower:
  • Vermillion
  • Pink
  • Gold
  • Leaf green(Center of the leaf)
  • Sap green
  • Black (for outlining)
For Border:
  • Pink
  • Cerulean blue
  • Sap green
  • Crimson
  • Vermillion
  • Gold(for outlining)

The flip sides of the same floral pattern...

As you can see , tiny detailing are done on the edges of the petals and the painted pattern is decorated with crystal stones.. The stones are pasted with the fabric glue..

The Border of the decor....

The border design is hand drawn and filled with five colors ..It is outlined with golden acrylic paint and decorated with  star shaped green stones

Some more detailing and decorations can also be added according to our creativity and needs...like laces, beads, center pieces, etc., and The edges of the fabric is folded and stitched along the borders to avoid tearings..

The Finished look of the fabric painted entrance doorway decor looks like....
