Recoloring Karthigai Deepam

Hello everyone..

Last year, I have colored these diyas for Karthigai.. But when I took it out of the box, I felt sad on seeing their condition and I knew I can't use it... So I thought of repainting it as an act of reusing.. I realized that I can change it into a new one.. That idea felt awesome...

So here are my old diyas which I painted last year.. Believe me.. It looked beautiful last year..

As the first step, I painted a base of brown acrylic color.. When they were half dried, I repainted another coat on it... After that I applied the gold, silver and bronze metallic dust on them with my fingers..

When we apply metallic dust, the intricate patterns on the deepam wiil be clearly visible.  Here is how they look now..

Hope you enjoyed this post... Thank you for visiting my blog.. Have a nice day..Happy Karthigai Deepam.. Keep on crafting..

Art form waste-Sauce dip gift box-Pista shell tulip flower

"Keep on recycling and carry on Reusing"-Recycle quote

Hello everyone..

Today I have posted two tiny arts made from things we usually throw away..
  1. A tiny gift box
  2. A single tulip flower pot
A tiny gift box:
What do we do with all the sauce dip cups that comes with pizza?.. It mostly goes along with pizza box into waste.. But when well cleaned and with tiny creativity, it can be made as a gift box for small things like keychains, rings, earrings, etc.,

I have decorated the lid with sequins and a bead at the center..

For the side, I have rolled a glitter tape around it.. Simple..Isn't it?

Now our gift box is ready for our tiny gifts..

A single tulip flower pot:

This tulip flower is made by pasting empty pista shells on one another. with fabric glue.. Hot gun glue can also be used...The stem, leaves and sand are made from shilpkar/mseal and colored with green acrylic paint..

The flower pot is also a sauce dip box with separate lid.. Only the cup is taken and painted brown acrylic paint on its inner surface..

Thanking you for visiting my blog.. I'd love to hear from you.. Please leave your valuable comments..

Hope you enjoyed my post.. See you again with another artwork.. Have a nice day..

DIY Painted Pen Stand

"It is important to reuse our resources. If you don't recycle and reuse things, you may run out of them."-David Murdoch

Hello everyone..
Today I have reused a card box that comes with biscuits(to retain its freshness) as a painted pen stand..I have used acrylic paints and felt tip pens to paint on this box..

Things needed:
  1. An old box(of Biscuits,tea box,etc.,)

  2. Acrylic paints

  3. Painting brushes

  4. Black Felt tip pen
  5. Pencil(For drawing the patterns)

The top side of the box is cut off to make it as a holder and the a design is hand drawn with a pencil on the surface.. and criss cross patterns are drawn on the remaining sides of the boxes.. as shown below

Then the flower pot is colored with pink petals, light green leaves and pearl yellow spots..

And colour the basket with pearl metallic copper and pearl metallic rust..

Now draw the criss cross patterns on the surface of the box with a felt tip pen ..But carefully continue the lines around the box to get a clear pattern..

Now fill alternate check boxes with black color acrylic paint..

The finished look .. You can keep stationery, brushes, etc., in this holder..

Hope you all enjoyed this..See you soon with my next post..Have a nice day..

Fabric painting-Kids-Mickey

"The soul is healed by being with children.” ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky

Hello every one..
Yesterday I thought of reusing my kids old uniform and so I have drawn some mickey cartoons on my kid's dark grey colored plain uniform..The painting is done by color filling and outlining technique.. I have used pearl color acrylic paints for filling.. as it looks good on dark colored fabrics and black for outlining..

These paintings are done by transferring  traced patterns.. For illustrations of transferring a pattern, Please refer to my Fabric painting-Red Rose post

Things needed:

Paints:
Many different colors of fabric/Acrylic paints.

Painting Brushes:
  1. A Flat Brush No:2 or 3(For color filling)
  2. A lettering Brush No:000 or 00(For outlining)

Short and Stiff bristles are preferable..

Painting Frame:A painting frame helps to tighten the fabric and holds it in the stretched form.

Other Essentials:
  1. An old cloth for cleaning brushes in between changing colors
  2. An old piece of card or paper to place under the fabric
  3. Clean water
  4. A mixing tray(Optional in case we want to mix certain colours)

 Take a look..
