Acrylic painting on Mdf board - Unicorn

 Hi friends.. 

Today I have posted an acrylic painting done on an MDF board... I have hand drawn the design and then filled colours. Outline was then done using black colour. Some golden colour detailing have also been done..

Unicorn has now a days become every kid's favourite.. The combination of colours for drawing  an unicorn is most fascinating .. Mostly pastel colours are used.. 

This painting was a birthday gift to my younger one who loves unicorns so much.. She wanted a pink unicorn.. so here it is..

Mural Art with Acrylic paint-Annam

Hi friends..

Today I have posted a traditional painting of an Indian mythological creature known as Annam. I have drawn this using Acrylic colours on a drawing book. It looks mostly like a swan. It is often depicted with a flower vine in its beak. This creature is said to have a magical ability to seperate water from milk.

This bird design is from original hand drawing, inspired by sculptures in ancient tamil temples and vaahanam or vehicle of deities. Annavahanam is one of the beautiful vehicles on which the idols of deities are placed when they go on a parade.

Tanjore painting- Meenakshi amman

 Hi friends.. 

As my 100th post, I wanted it to be special. So I am posting my favourite, ite and first Tanjore painting done by myself from starting to finish

I did this painting almost 12 years back. 

 The experience was amazing as I didn't know whether I could complete it or not.. 

But as the painting slowly took shape, I realised that I can do it. That feeling is still etched in my memory. I mixed about 5 different types of green that time to give shading for meenakshi amman's face, her garland, her saree and her parrot.

Hand Embroidery- Flowers using herringbone stitch

 Hi friends.. 

Today I have posted a hand embroidery work. This post has two flower artworks. The stitches used to make them are

1. Herringbone stitch
2. Long and short stitch
3. Satin stitch
4. Back stitch

Herring bone stitch looks good for both outlining and filling. Long and short works well for giving a shaded effect. Satin stitch is a classic filling stitch. Back stitch gives a look of machine stitch and is good for outlining

The first flower work has long and short stitch and back stitch. The center is filled with golden colour 3Doutliner.

Acrylic painting on Canvas-Yaazhi

 Hello friends,

The Meenakshi amman temple is one of the marvels of art and architecture. As we walk through the vast corridors of the temple, We can admire the stone pillars carved with beautiful yaazhis. The ceilings are painted with amazing and colourful Mandala art.(Flowers, designs, illusions, etc.,)

This painting of mine is a tribute to that magnificient mandalas and the wonderful yaazhi pillars of Meenakshi temple. I have painted this on my own made canvas and gesso. I used acrylic paints for blending. The real beauty of this painting comes out only after thin outlining with black colour.

Acrylic painting on canvas- Colourful parrot

 

Hello friends.. 

"The sound of birds can mute the noise of mind"

As our mind is always searching for new things, worrying about past things, hoping for best things and so on, in a while, it may become too hectic.. 

Nature has a unique way of healing our soul and giving our life purpose. A small squirrel waiting for its turn for food behind a crow and two mynas can teach you patience. A hen fighting with a hawk can teach you bravery.. 

On that thought, today I have posted a painting of a colourful parrot. After seeing a parrot family in a nearby tree making lots of chatters..I decided to draw this..I have used acrylic colours on ownmade canvas after a coat of ownmade gesso.
